Thomas Manion

Big Pharma Targets Patrick Murphy

Our friend John Morgan over at PAProgressive has some harsh criticism of Tom Manion:

Thomas Manion, a corporate Vice President at huge pharmaceutical company Johnson & Johnson, has announced he is running for Congress against Patrick Murphy in the 8th Congressional District. Manion, head of the Information Systems operations at the Big Pharma corporation, moved to Bucks County in 1990 after thrity years in the Marines. He is still a Colonel in the Marine Reserves and supports the Iraq War and President Bush. He lost his son in the war.  read more »

Manion's Desperate Campaign Strategy

Earlier this week we announced that Thomas Manion had announced his plan to run against Rep. Patrick Murphy in the 8th Congressional district. Many people had criticized Manion for using his son’s death as a political ploy to win votes. I disagree with that assessment since it involves a personal matter for Mr. Manion, one that I am sure is painful to deal with on a daily basis.

What bothers me right now about Mr. Manion’s fleeting campaign so far is his desperate and pathetic attempts to win supporters. Someone from his campaign (or perhaps Manion himself) has been posting pleas for campaign contributions and support on this site. It is fine for his supporters to read out site and make reasoned arguments as to his qualifications for service, but so far they have only cluttered our community with trite spam. We will continue to delete these messages and encourage Mr. Manion to run a campaign like a grown-up.

I have already spoken to a few KP readers that are sending protest contributions to Representative Murphy’s campaign as a result of Thomas Manion’s harebrained blunders.
