Glenn Thompson has beaten the silver-spoon boys (Shaner & Walker) in PA 05.
Mark McCracken has his work cut out for him with this challenger, but I think he has a good shot at beating him.

What do Matt Shaner & Derek Walker have in common? They have both triggered the millionaire clause as they pursue the PA District 5 primary. They both have close family connections to energy companies in PA: Oil for Shaner and coal for Walker.
Now they also have trouble with the law in common!
First we had Matt Shaner with his unfortunate drinking incident where he drank, drove, wrecked, left the scene, called the DA while hiding in his home from the police, denied wrong doing, to then admit it, pay a fine, and hope that all PA voters would forgive and forget.
Now this breaking story in the CDT (nice job CDT) about his challenger, Derek Walker:

UPDATE! I found a pic on Google of his staff drinking in Shaner’s headquarters when he ran for state house! BETTER YET A pic of Shaner at Pickles in November…From my own cell phone. He was stumble, fall down, I-don’t-know-who-I-am drunk when I took this. I was with friends, and were shocked at this behavior from the man that would be State Rep Shaner. Check it out at my home blog: Declarations of Pride.

I am not sure why this story is really relevant in this very big field of GOP candidates for the nomination of Peterson’s seat?
All I know is that the headline is “Republicans outnumber Democrats by 45,000 in District 5.” read more »
Elk County coroner and resident of Saint Marys, Lou Radkowski announced on Friday that he too was interested in the Pennsylvania 5th Congressional District seat, soon to be vacated by John Peterson.
I am just floored by the level of interest in this Congressional seat. read more »
This morning comes the announcement that two more Republicans have cast their hats into the ring for the 5th District seat.
These waters are getting a bit more than simply murky!
New bid #1 for the day comes from former College Township councilman Daniel Klees. He currently works for Penn State’s Applied Research Lab. He’s “exploring all his options.” What ever that means???
New bid #2 comes from Union Township resident, and recent Penn State grad: Craig Lucas. According to the CDT, he likes Fred Thompson for President, and is no fan of either Shaner or Walker: read more »
