Morganelli says Corbett fumbled suit

The Democratic candidate for state attorney general, John Morganelli, says that incumbent Tom Corbett has “eviscerated” Pennsylvania’s campaign finance laws by mishandling a federal lawsuit.

The lawsuit, seeking to overturn the state’s ban on corporate campaign contributions, was filed last summer in U.S. District Court by a nonprofit corporation based in Virginia, the Center for Individual Freedom.

Morganelli: Bonusgate Riddled With Conflicts of Interest

Republican Attorney General Tom Corbett won’t step aside from investigating GOP leaders, despite a political opponent’s accusation that Corbett’s “conflicts of interest” could jeopardize a grand jury investigation into legislative bonuses.

Corbett spokesman Kevin Harley said Wednesday the office is investigating Republicans and Democrats in the House and Senate, and “Tom Corbett will follow the evidence wherever it leads.” ...  read more »


Prosecutor Morganelli Seeks Attorney General Post

Seeking to break the decades-long Republican lock on the Attorney General’s Office, Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli will announce his candidacy today for the state’s top crime-fighting post.

“The office of attorney general has been controlled by one party for 28 years,” said Morganelli, who is so far running unopposed in the primary. He will take on incumbent Tom Corbett in November if no one successfully challenges him in the Democratic primary. “It’s time for a different strategy.”  read more »
