Sprague Seeks to Withdraw from Fumo Case

“There exists a good cause for seeking to withdraw…”
Philly Mega-Lawyer Richard Sprague and his firm asked a federal judge today to let them withdraw as defense lawyers for embattled Fumo state Sen. Vince Fumo, D-Philadelphia, the Inquirer is reporting.

The request by Sprague comes three weeks after U.S. District Judge William Yohn said the big-gun lawyer could represent Fumo in his federal fraud case despite conflicts of interest alleged by the government.

“There exists a good cause for seeking to withdraw,” Sprague and partners Mark Sheppard and Geoffrey Johnson said in a motion. There was no reason given for the request — which is typical because of lawyer/client confidentiality.
