Political Hack Upsets Funeral to Bully Councilman

Our friend Bernie O’Hare reported on this incident several days ago and had followup today. Bernie’s investigation has triggered additional media attention:

A political consultant linked to an investigation into dirty politics berated Ron Angle during a funeral Mass for a prominent Pen Argyl woman then challenged the county councilman to a fight in the parking lot, the woman’s widower said.

Precision Marketing President Thomas Severson disrupted Gemma Turtzo’s Mass of Christian Burial before more than 100 mourners Friday at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church, John Turtzo said.

Angle filed a complaint Monday with Pen Argyl police, who said two officers are investigating an incident that occurred about 7 p.m. Friday at the church. Police Chief Philip Viglione said he could not be more specific until police complete an investigation.

Angle said Severson “came to this Mass for Mrs. Turtzo and he was a crazy man. What he’s done is horrendous.”

Angle declined to comment further, citing the investigation.

Severson’s firm has earned more than $10 million in business from state political candidates since 2000. He declined to comment.

The state attorney general is checking into allegations of election law violations forwarded by the Northampton County Republican Committee. The committee asked for an investigation into campaign attack ads funded by a person identified only as “John Doe.” Expense records say “John Doe” hired Severson’s firm.

Oh wow

PA politics at its worst. I’m not often a defender of Ron Angle, but disrupting a funeral and challenging him to a fight in the parking lot is way over the line.
