IT DOESN’T make sense to me.I mean Philly Mayor Michael Nutter backing Hillary Clinton.
Was Nutter not the candidate who just last year ran on a message of change? I mean, isn’t he all about “a new day?”
And isn’t Barack Obama this year running on change? Isn’t it “change you can believe in?”
And was Nutter not the African-American candidate able to transcend long-entrenched racial politics in the city?
And isn’t Barack Obama the African-American candidate out to transcend racial politics in the country?
Was it not Nutter of whom early in his campaign it was asked “is he black enough?”
And is it not Barack Obama of whom early in his campaign it was asked “is he black enough?”
And was it not Nutter who pushed for campaign-finance limits and ethics reform to end pay-to-play and offer up a City Hall that won’t be run by special interests?
And is it not Barack Obama eschewing political-action-committee contributions and saying corporate lobbyists won’t run his White House?

On Nutter not endorsing Obama
I will give the guy this much credit…he has plenty of guts because if Obama loses PA – especially in a tight race, Nutter will never win another primary. Does he really believe he will be forgiven by Phila’s African-American voters who will almost certainly support Obama in overwhelming numbers.

Nutter's fine
Actually, I think that if he continues doing the credible job he’s doing now, Nutter would be fine in another primary. He’s doing a good job so far and managed to keep his name out of the mud – after the Street administration that’s enough to be called a success. Plus, the recent drop in the murder rate helps.
Nutter made the smart choice
Hillary Clinton is the Democrat who can beat McCain. Obama doesn’t have a chance in the general election.
I would have to disagree
I would have to disagree there, Hillary is no better suited than Obama in beating McCain. Obama is a Kennedy, and untouchable if he wins the primary. What will his argument be? The experience argument is burnt out and certainly will not hold up for the Bush backing McCain.
Obama is no John Kennedy
I hate these Obama/Kennedy comparisons. He’s certainly not “untouchable” after the primary. Their electoral prospects are largely the same, so far as I can tell.
Kennedy Untouchable?
“In the national popular vote Kennedy led Nixon by just two-tenths of one percent (49.7% to 49.5%), “ – Wikipedia
This does not sound like a cakewalk / untouchable to me.
Bull Crap
Nutter made a bad move that will costs him at the polls in the future. More and more residents of Phila are disgusted with Nutters support of Hillary. Dont fool yourselves.
Hillary is the democrat who
Hillary is the democrat who will lose to McCain in the general. The republicans know that if Obama wins in the primary, McCain loses in the general. When it comes down to it, experience is worthless if you can’t inspire.
Huge Assumption
George W was neither experienced or inspiring. As it stands now the Democrats are a party divided. While the dems are debating experience, hope, and inspiration; president elect McCain is in Iraq reviewing the troops. This election is the Democrats to lose. As cited in previous posts, the party has to become united for the common goal of putting a Democrat in the White House. The Republicans already have a leg up. Their goal is to keep one of their own in the White House. They already made their choice and now they are focused on November. The Dems on the other hand, well they’re, uh, well, uh…...setting themselves up for defeat.
I agree
I suspect Republicans would rather have Hillary as the Democratic nominee. Many Republicans hate Hillary! Some intended not to show up for the election since they are not inspired by their candidate. If Hillary is the candidate, they will show up and vote for McCain to stop Hillary. If Obama is the candidate, many Republicans plan to support him.
Uniter
I’ve heard it said that Hillary is a uniter – of the Republicans.

Very good!
I find what you quoted very clever but true.
You're Dreaming
Hillary is a loser as she is losing this primary and has been for quite some time. Wake up people!
This is just a grudge over the 2007 primary
Obama backed Chaka Fattah over Nutter in the 2007 primary.
Obama backed Chaka Fattah over Nutter
True…but Nutter should look upon Obama’s endorsement of Fattah as a simply a wrong-headed political decision based on the best call available to the presidential candidate at that time.
One has difficulty believing that Nutter will risk his own political future on endorsing Hillary…something that can only be driven by anger over what was a purely “business” decision by the Obama campaign.

Forgive and forget?
Really? That would be really mature for a politician.
