Prosecutor Morganelli Seeks Attorney General Post

Seeking to break the decades-long Republican lock on the Attorney General’s Office, Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli will announce his candidacy today for the state’s top crime-fighting post.

“The office of attorney general has been controlled by one party for 28 years,” said Morganelli, who is so far running unopposed in the primary. He will take on incumbent Tom Corbett in November if no one successfully challenges him in the Democratic primary. “It’s time for a different strategy.”

Morganelli, 52, said he would run a more “proactive” agency focusing on reducing gun violence in Pennsylvania, while exploring broad-based litigation – for instance, suing foreign companies that manufacture unsafe toys.

“The office has been underutilized in criminal and civil matters,” Morganelli said in an interview yesterday. “There are areas that we could be a leader in.”

Too bad that ain’t happening. Morganelli can’t stop the Corbett juggernaut.

Maybe Morganelli can go after the Republican misdeeds in the legislature after Corbett takes out DeWeasel and company. It looks like Corbett has not been. I can’t believe that only the house Democrats have been misusing the public’s trust.

I agree that betraying the public’s trust has been an equal-opportunity game in Harrisburg, but as of now there’s no evidence surfacing against the Republicans. Maybe that will change this year?

Morganelli's Investigation

When our child was 7 years he revealed that he was sexually assaulted by his first grade teacher. We filed a Police report with Colonial Regional Police and than were required to meet with Detective Hammer and Morganelli’s assistant DA. In confidence and trust our son made his statement in Morganelli’s Office. A bogus investigation followed along with a conflicting police report made by Detective Gary Hammer. This confidential Police report was than distributed through the mail. According to the Northampton Schools district response they stated they got a copy from Morganelli’s Office. This confidential police report by my son and many other than 6 and 7 year old children’s statements which included their full name and address has been made public. The Teacher was transferred when Detective Hammers son was placed in her first grade pod. When we confronted Morganelli he stated his office did not distribute this report and said there is no need for an investigation on how this confidential report was made public.
Through our experience our police report was not kept confidential! Answers are still left open and the cover-up continues.
