Philly Voters Flock to Dems, Leaving GOP Cold

Well this is interesting news – over 50,000 new Democratic voters in Philadelphia, AND they’re saying it’s at the expense of GOP and Independent voters.

More than 50,300 voters in Philadelphia have joined the Democratic Party since November, with some of the largest gains coming in wards presumed to be strongholds for Barack Obama, according to figures released Monday by the city Board of Elections.

In all, the number of Democratic voters increased 6.7 percent to 799,349.

The increase represented both new voters and party-switchers – Republicans lost more than 5,000 voters in the same period, and unaffiliated voters declined more than 6,000 voters, to less than 82,000.

The registration activity has been furious – about twice what the city has seen in previous presidential primaries – said Bob Lee, administrator for the Board of Elections.

voters

I didn’t know Phil had 50000 republicans and independents but it is sure good news to Barack.

Philadelphia Freedom! & Elton John for Hillary!

Elton John sang Philadelphia Freedom at his benefit concert for Hillary last night.
Go Philadelphia voters!
And count every vote – stand up for the voters of Florida & Michigan!

the voters of MI & FL?

I’m more intrigued by the idea of standing up for the voters of MI & FL – exactly how am I supposed to do that? Suggest that delegates be seated for a candidate that was solo in representation? Let’s be real – Clinton had name recognition and as no one else could campaign there it was sort of a ONE HORSE race. The Republicans can be blamed for the fiasco in FL as to MI – that falls to the short sightedness of Democratic leadership – National and State but ultimately it is beyond the control of any one candidate.

I have family in MI and they would be equally incensed if the situation were resolved with the delegates seated – why? Because none of my family and no one they knew voted because they were told it wouldn’t matter… so with that said, how would that help the voters of MI??

They don’t have time for a new primary and Hillary won’t consider accepting a caucus (the only thing they do have time for)... so what exactly do you suggest would be the appropriate action to “stand up for the voters of FL & MI?

Votes should count

I suggest that people write to the Democratic National Committee and ask it to respect the voters of FL and MI. Either support the contests as already held, or push for a re-vote – there’s plenty of time between now and August. It’s un-democratic for the Democratic party to select a nominee based on the votes of 48 states.
It is Obama who has blocked the resolution of this so far. But Obama typically has won his elections in a pretty un-democratic way. Look at his ballot challenges to his opponents in his Illinois races – getting all your opponents off the ballot is a sure way to win – Chicago-style.

Goody. More people

Goody. More people sticking their hands in our pockets and calling it “fairness”.

Fl Mi

Everyone knew what the consequences were when Florida and Michigan decided to go against the DNC rules. Now that Hillary is behind she wants them seated because Obama did not waste time campaigning there and did not get any votes. It’s just another example of Hillary moving the goal post and changing the rules as she goes along. The DNC can just award the delegates 50/50 just to make everyone happy.

Best candidate for change

As discussed in this article

this is occurring across the country, and Barack Obama is a large part of the reason for it. People want a real change.
