So are we now officially a blue state?
Democratic voter registration in Pennsylvania has hit a record of more than 4 million voters.“It’s kind of incredible,” Harry A. VanSickle, the state’s elections commissioner, tells The Caucus as his office prepares to post the new numbers. “It’s the first time we know of that a party in Pennsylvania has gone over 4 million.”
A total of 4,044,952 people are now registered to vote in the Democratic primary; a total of 3,215,478 are registered for the Republican primary.

believe !
Does anyone really believe these new found democrats are Hillary supporters? LOL!! Keep it coming!
There are many Democrats (especially in Central and W. Pa) who
vote for Democrats for local and county office but vote for Republicans for federal office.
Converse is true in SE Pa
It’s the opposite in SE Pa where most GOP voters go with the Rs for local office but more and more toward Dems for statewide and federal Dem candidates.

Party ID
I think I saw it over at MyDD awhile ago, but there was a link to the Harris Polling Organization data which has been tracking party ID for many years, since the 1930s I believe. While party ID is relatively consistent it does vary in about a 5 point range. In 1991, party ID shifted pretty dramatically toward Dems – an indicator of the unhappiness with Bush I and the economy IMO. Now, we see a similar national mood against Bush II, the war in Iraq and the economy and we see a similar shift in party ID toward Dems.
So while there are obviously voters who have registered as Dems to vote for a specific candidate, I suspect the registration numbers have much more to do with the general unhappiness (75% “wrong track”) of the country’s direction.

Speaking for State College
For the first time EVER in my 20+ years here, I am hearing students and young adults invested in the process. We are talking about open debate and discussion. That didn’t happen for either of the Bush’s or for Bill Clinton. But the young of this nation are DONE with the GOP. All the people I am talking to here in this special nook of “central pa” are voting for Clinton with one exception going to Obama. And WE ARE talking about college aged voters! I for one, haven’t committed yet. But I love that the youth is involved in this! Very encouraging.
Wow..
I agree with you watching the young folks get truly engaged is something!
I am curious about your tally though…it really is going against the national grain. Would you mind giving your reasoning or that of what you hear from your friends on their choices?

=====
Tell us how things change in a couple of weeks. If what you are saying is true it is the oddity of the norm as overwhelmingly the young and more importantly the educated are flocking in support to Obama. How many gaffs can Hillary admit too while denying she is outright lying or incompetant?
Rush...
Does anyone have any anecdotal info on the rumored Rush Reps switching to mess up the primary votes?
They’re coming up with some evidence in Texas and Ohio that it actually happened…I’m curious if it’s true or more Rush marketing.
well known
It is public knowledge that Rush and other did this and in one prediminately republican county there were some 10000 registered democrats and Hillary racked up over 27000 votes in her favor. Although illegal it is virtually impossible to enforce and those that cross over are under no firm commitment to vote the other side in the GE.
Texas
We should not forget Texas as well had cross over voting as well and it did not work as well since Obama still garnished more delegates than HRC but as Bill CLinton is so fond of repeating , perception is reality and most people think Hillary won. She only squeaked by on the popular vote but I think if crossover voting wasn’t encouraged Barack would have won this area as well.
