Mayor Nutter has a message for anyone still dogging him about why he endorsed Hillary Rodham Clinton over Barack Obama.“There are no automatics in life that all black people are going to support a single black candidate in a race,” Nutter said. “All black folks don’t eat fried chicken or eat watermelon. When do we make some progress here?”
Nutter endorsed Clinton four months ago, citing her understanding of the tough issues facing America’s cities. He has since discovered that almost nothing he has done as the new mayor has gotten as much national attention.
As Pennsylvania’s April 22 primary nears, most everyone wants to know why a well-educated African American mayor with a reformist message and a “post-racial” vision would not endorse a well-educated African American presidential candidate with a reformist message and “post-racial” vision.

point
Nutter needs to understand that Barack is where he is not because of race but in spite of his race. Nutter is free to support whomever he wishes but does he really believe Hillary when her lips move? That is the issue.
Nutter is a fool.
The Clinton policies devastated African-Americans and, even though Bill acknowledged it, Hillary wants to compound the unfairness by being against retroactive changes to some sentencing laws that would free some unfairly imprisoned people – a disproportionate amount who are African-Americans who didn’t hurt anyone but themselves by engaging in drug use.
Nutter is right
I just love how people wish they were treated equal and wish American would get over the race issue. However, everytime something like this happens-they inject race.
Everytime someone disagrees with Barack Obama, the media points to race…Hmm, did this happen to Obama because he is black.
Now, Nutter endorses and campaigns for Hillary and because Mr. Nutter is black—THIS IS AN ISSUE? He is black…soo….he should automatically support Obama…..NO!
Get over this race thing and maybe MAYBE ONE DAY IT WILL GO AWAY!
GO NUTTER AND GO HILLARY.
TWO GREAT PEOPLE!
I glad I do not live in Philly.
Mr. Obama is trying to get all of Americas people to step with him into a new future where race will not be forgotten just not as important as it is now. The job in front of Mr. Obama is pretty rough considering all the years of neglect the country must recover from. I for one do not think the chicken and watermelon crack is very heplful in trying times like these.I mean Mayor Nutter is in no postion to critize Mr. Obama at all, read the Philly paper as a regular african american I would not want to live in such a violent city. In fact if I am not mistaken most of the victims of crime in Philly are african american. Peace
I don’t see Obama as a
I don’t see Obama as a candidate preaching city reformation, although it is for the most part the cities that need Federal help more than any other slice of America. Cities are the most diverse and fluid parts of the American pie and will always for many years to come be plagued with the violence and poverty they experience today. Mayors live with this everyday, not just during campaign stops. Mayors don’t have the luxury of a flyby then its on to Small Town America. They live everyday with the death of a teenager shot down in a driveby and drugs being sold on the corner in broad daylight and a tax base slowly, sometimes quickly, disappearing. If Mayor Nutter feels Clinton has shown the most and honest interest in Philadelphia, let him decide the candidate to endorse. Its can’t be up to us. None of us have ever sat in that chair.

Unfortunately, Nutter did the City of Philadelphia a great disservice. He is disconnected from the people of the City with his endorsement of Hillary.
I saw his wife the other day in town and she looked completely disconnected from the people of the City.
I suspect that there will be a great backlash because Nutter has gone against everything like himself and his City in support of Hillary.
