Dicker Says She's Running to Win in First District

Ok, this idea to have a debate and let the winner be the sole opponent to Johnny Doc is pretty darn silly.

THE TOP TWO aides to state Senate candidate Anne Dicker left her campaign over the weekend, following several days of intrigue over the possibility that she or attorney Larry Farnese would get out of the race.

Dicker said yesterday that she’d fired her campaign manager, Karim Olaechea, after a series of disagreements on the direction of her campaign – and a conversation with political consultant Larry Ceisler, an adviser to the third candidate in the Senate race, union leader John Dougherty.

Dicker’s finance director, Matt Goldfine, decided on his own to follow Olaechea out the door.

Seamless Transition at Dicker Campaign

Despite this news, the Dicker campaign is running strong!

Since firing her campaign manager and losing her finance director, Anne’s fundraising has increased, volunteers are flowing into the office (at 806 E. Passyunk), and a new campaign management and field operations team is in place (including Alexi Vandenburg, Nate Kleinman, and Hannah Miller). We’re ramping up our GOTV efforts and plan to have hundreds of volunteers out on the streets and at the polls on election day.

Our recent endorsement in the Daily News has been a boon to the campaign, along with the DFA endorsement, and seriously negative coverage of Farnese and Dougherty (in separate stories in today’s Inquirer). Philly for Change is helping our ground game, and Anne’s support for Barack Obama is also bringing lots of new support.

We all realize how important it is for an untainted, incorruptible, genuinely progressive candidate to be elected to Vince Fumo’s notorious seat. Larry Farnese and John Dougherty represent the old-school, totally corrupted, money-driven Philly machine. It’s time to turn the page.
