After defeating a 28-year incumbent to win a seat in the state House of Representatives, Lisa Bennington is hanging it up with only a single term behind her.The state representative for District 21 announced in January that she is returning to full-time practice as a divorce lawyer, and not seeking re-election.
For Bennington, who ran a reformist’s campaign in 2006, it’s been two years of frustration and one long, sobering look at Harrisburg.
“I think the legislature as it currently exists … the wheels have come off,” she says. “I don’t know that one person individually can make a difference.”

What a whiner
If she was indeed a reformer, she would have voted “aye” instead of “nay” on the open records bill don’t you think?

maybe
Maybe, but plenty of people voted against it. Maybe the had their reasons, though I have been wanting to ask DeWeese and Perzel what specific provisions are troubling them at this point. They’ve said some things need more consideration, but won’t say what they are. Red herring?
Reformer or not?
Greg,
Sorry but I have to disagree here. She billed herself as a reformer. She’s called the legislature dysfunctional among other things. Yet, a bill which she should, as a reformer, have championed, she voted against. She’s quitting, who’s she beholden to at this point that she can’t vote her conscience? I just have no respect for her whatsoever.

She should stay in politics!
I would give Ms. Bennington an A+ for effort in her term in office. The citizens of this state were so lucky to have her represent them in Harrisburg these past two years. Her liberal views and agenda are what this state needs. She is an intelligent, beautiful and AMAZING woman!!!!
