Bennett's Poor Fundraising Has Some Democrats Looking Elsewhere

Congressional candidate Sam Bennett raised a paltry $28,000 in the three months between July and September, leaving the Democrat with a fraction of what her campaign says it will need to take on Republican Charlie Dent and giving fuel to party activists searching for another candidate to rally behind.

Bennett’s tally gives her $91,000 for the first six months of her campaign, far short of the $2 million goal it set for the 2008 election cycle. Perhaps more worrisome for the nonprofit executive is that her campaign had only $33,000 in cash at the end of September after spending two-thirds of her fundraising haul to set up operations.

Dent, a two-term lawmaker, raised a modest $158,000 during the three-month period that ended Sept. 30, leaving him with $459,000 in cash. He too expects to raise $2 million during the election cycle.

Why in the world can't Democrats field a decent candidate?

It is really sad that Roy Afflerbach is the strongest candidate that has run in the last decade.
