Why doesn’t this sort of pettiness between these two surprise me?
Luzerne County businessman Chris Hackett may be poised to challenge incumbent Rep. Chris Carney, D-Dimock Township, after apparently capturing the GOP nomination in the 10th Congressional District on Tuesday. His opponent was far from conceding defeat, however.
As of 12:30, Mr. Hackett was leading opponent Dan Meuser by 2,339 votes, according to an unofficial tally by The Times-Tribune. According to unofficial primary election returns, Mr. Hackett polled 31,046 to Mr. Meuser’s 28,707 votes.
Although that lead had closed somewhat from a 3,100-vote margin just a half-hour earlier, votes remained to be counted in some rural counties, and as of press time Mr. Meuser was claiming a 400-vote margin and vowed to hold on until the counting was finished.

One less
“TOOL” to deal with in the election process. Poor “Santorum backed” and insider with the “powers to be” in the area Dan Meuser lost his “tool like” bid for the 10th. Endorsements and even lies from his rich buddies couldn’t pull it off. Hell, he even bought and renovated a small house at Harvey’s Lake to look like he lives in the 10th( how fast will he move back to his home in Dallas?). Let’s see, cost of that and about 1.8 mil of his personal fortune for about 29K votes is a little over $71 per vote, not a bad price for a common man of the people. Now the other “Tool” Hackett who talks from two sides of his mouth only spent about $800,000 for victory and abour 31K votes, a mere $26 per vote, much more efficient than Mr. Meuser. So it looks like the good people of the 10th bow have a choice of an incumbent who will be in the majority in congress and be able to deliver for his district or another GOP standard bearer who delivers the same tired, old Republican/conservative rethoric and offers nothing new. Voters of the 10th, are these two rich guys the type you want or who really care about the average citizen of our district? I’d say no and they think if they like something it their entitlement, just buy it!
"Yes"
I’ll take the self-made rich guy.
"NO"
The self-made rich guy is not in itself a bad thing, but Hackett is so far to the right it makes him a bad choice for the 10th.
