Hackett Didn't Break Laws Over Illegal Housekeeper

Republican congressional candidate Chris Hackett did not break the law by failing to notify federal authorities that his housekeeper was in the country illegally, according to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency spokesman.

Hackett said he fired his housekeeper after learning the woman was an illegal immigrant. He didn’t notify the authorities because, he said, he didn’t feel he was required to do that.

I am not a crook...

a hypocrite? sure. An exaggerator? absoluetely!

But I am not a criminal, and the feds gave me note to show everyone.

Maybe Chris could put the note on his refrigerator, wow he must be so proud.

Hackett's Maid

The immigration status of Hackett’s maid should be the least of our concerns. The fact that he even has a housekeeper is a concern. How many people casting a vote this month have house keepers? Many are fortunate if they have time to take care of their own homes while working overtime and/or two jobs just to make ends meet. The last thing the 10th needs is a conservative, right-wing republican that is out of touch with the average working person representing them in Washington.

hackett's maid concerns

ok, so chris has earned some money and has a housekeeper. this certainly doesn’t make him out of touch with reality. his personal history demonstrates that he didn’t come from a wealthy family – he earned it with hard work and energy – an inspiring story for everyone. i’m concerned that there was an illegal immigrant working for him, but he did the right thing by terminating her employment when he discovered the issue. i’m hopeful hackett wins this seat – i think he’s a real person, who is familiar with the struggles small businesses face and knows what it means to create jobs – something that becomes a greater concern every day in our current economy.

Wow, either you’re a

Wow, either you’re a Hackett plant or someone fed you a boatload of crap. Hackett didn’t earn anything. His business belonged to his father in law. All he did was found the right girl. As for the housekeeper, she worked for him for YEARS!!!!!!!!! Not weeks!!!!!!! The fact that he didn’t claim her wages to the IRS should be of concern too. I thought his “business” is all about placing employees. He didn’t know any of this???

not a plant...

but i do like the guy. i think there are some information gaps in your understanding of his history… but the real issue is that he’s a self-made success, he has real-world experience in creating a bottom line, he seems to understand how government can interfere with community economic prosperity, he disagrees with “earmarks”, and most importantly, he’s not a politician! nobody’s perfect, but i kind of think he’d do ok. if there are better candidates, they’re not running in this race.

Nothing New

Hackett and Meuser preach the same old right-wing rehtoric. They claim too much government is a bad thing and push deregulation. Problem with this reasoning is that business is expected to self-regulate and we all know how well that works. Then of course there is the staunch support of the 2nd amendment-our “right” to bear arms B.S. and the right to life movement. No one is anti-life, except of course the pro-gun people who enjoy killing, but I digress. The fact is republicans are only concerned with preserving their own self interests. For the first time in decades the 10th has democratic representation. We need to ensure it stays that way. Republican conservatism is all about maintaining the status-quo. The status-quo in the 10th won’t do any longer. This area needs major improvements if there is any chance of attracting real companies that will provide real jobs. Abandoned coal mines and culm dumps are not very attractive. With Hackett or Meuser, that’s what you will get – more of the same.

Hackett & Mueser

They are both spoiled “rich boys” who think that the seat belongs to them. Not a dimes worth of difference between two poor candidates who lack real issues.

Either or

Only one of these guys will make it to the general election. So it’s safe to assume one of them will be supportiong Carney in November.

So your saying

that the loser will abandon their Conservative principles to spite the other guy? Boy if that’s so they are really a pair of losers!

Mud Slingers

Anonymous was probably being facetious, but at the rate these guys are going at each other, it would be hypocritical if one were to support the other. Of course conservative right is synonymous with hypocritical.
