Despite Past Trends, 2008 Congressional Challengers are Not State Lawmakers

Pennsylvania’s 2008 congressional challengers share an unusual trait — they’re not state lawmakers.

In fact, few have any political experience at all. Among the state’s 19 congressional districts, less than a quarter of more than 15 declared challengers have been elected to any office.

Traditionally, Pennsylvania’s Capitol Hill candidates emerge from the state Legislature or another elected post. That started to change last year and the pace is quickening now.

Why? Congress — which only five years ago was held in high standing among most voters — is now experiencing its lowest approval rating in more than a dozen years. Combine that with voters’ discontent over the Pennsylvania’s 2005 pay-raise scandal and a lack of action in Harrisburg, some political observers say, and you have a recipe for congressional challengers that starts with a background removed from politics.

Congressman Patrick Murphy[D8]

I will no longer support any Dem except Kucinich, they have become spineless, traitorous, rats that are complicit in the bush regime.
I am 53 and have been a Dem since I was 18, no more. I have a wonderful sharp #2 pencil I will use if Kucinich is not on the ballot in November.
Murphy sits on the Armed Services Personell and Subcommittee as well, yet has done Nada. The returning Vets need help with PTSD and other mental illnesses.
When I asked Murphy why he voted Nay for Impeachment he told me the people of the 8th District did not vote for him for that reason, I reminded him I am from the 8th and I paid 13,000 dollars in Twp taxes and I voted for that, I voted for a Rep.that did just that, he is my voice. Nay, Nay, Nay, I am tired of 16 hour days of calling, emailing and tracking Bills and the disappointing Vote Calls from him and Casey.
That is it, no more WE the PEOPLE demand OUR country back!

I am happy to hear that you will be writing in Kucinich

Please keep up the good work and focus your energies on the turncoat Democrats who will not support impeachment.
