PA09 setting up an upset

According to the website of the Commonwealth Department of State election returns, Democratic challenger Tony Barr received more votes in the April 22nd primary than did the incumbent Bill Shuster (R PA09). Tony Barr received 57,489 votes, while Shuster received only 56,921 votes. While hardly a landslide, the 1% Barr edge going into the general election makes an upset in the 9th District a distinct possibility.

“Obviously, we have a lot of work to do” Barr said, “but we are eager to bring our message to the voters in the 9th District. The Bush/Shuster era hasn’t been good for the 9th District and we are confident that the voters are looking to make a change, but we still have some work to do”

Keep us posted about the 9th CD

Dvilledem, keep us posted and informed about what’s going on in the 9th. I know how hard you guys worked last cycle. The 9th isn’t as solidly Republican as it appears and I agree an upset here is a real possibility.

Can you imagine...

...that there’s a reasonable chance BOTH the 5th and 9th CDs will turn blue?? A year ago, even a few weeks ago, that seemed unthinkable. In the 5th, the top GOP candidates drowned themselved in mud, while the three dems ran with dignity and class. Congratulations to Messrs. vilello and Cahir for running stron, issue-centric campaigns, and best of luck to Mark McCracken in the fall.

this Clearfield resident also is interested in seeing any relevant postings from the 9th CD race – to topple the shuster Dynasty would truly be icing on the cake!
