JOHNSTOWN—Tom Wolf has added yet another major endorsement to the Wolf Pack, this time from Pennsylvania’s only ever Acting Governor, Mark Singel. Singel served as Lieutenant Governor under Governor Bob Casey and then Acting Governor for six months while Casey underwent multiple organ transplant surgery.

Singel began the event by talking about how he felt the day he unexpectedly had to assume the office of Governor, saying that “what I have come to know is that you’re either equipped for that moment or you’re not.”

“I personally believe Tom Wolf is uniquely equipped for that moment,” Singel said.

“The reason Tom Wolf has emerged as the clear frontrunner in this race is because of his demeanor,” Singel added. “He has demonstrated class and courage and has shaken off the attacks with the dignity that you would expect of a good Governor.”

During Singel’s six months as Governor, his major accomplishments included enacting Pennsylvania first modern workers’ compensation reform package, refinancing the state’s park system, and reducing state and local taxes. He was also the original author of the state’s mortgage assistance bill that has saved 35,000 Pennsylvania homes.

“This man has earned my support, I’m endorsing him today, I’m voting for him, and I’m encouraging all my friends to as well,” Singel concluded.

Singel remains popular in his hometown Johnstown area, and his support serves to bolster Wolf’s southwestern PA numbers.

Yesterday’s Harper poll showed Wolf at 50% with his closest opponent trailing at 15%. The Democratic primary election is May 20th.
