Erin McClelland’s campaign for Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional District has bolstered their endorsement list with a bevy of Beaver County elected officials. Democratic Commissioners Joe Spanik and Tony Amadio, Beaver Falls Mayor George Quay, and State Representatives Jaret Gibbons (HD-10) and Rob Matzie (HD-16) all announced today that they are supporting McClelland over her primary election opponent John Hugya, of Johnstown.
“I’m proud to endorse Erin McClelland for Congress because she truly cares about finding solutions to the challenges we face here in Beaver County,” said Commissioner Spanik. “Whether it’s sticking up for working families, taking care of our veterans, or making sure our children have safe streets and a good education, Erin McClelland cares more about solving problems than telling us who to blame. I know she’s the right choice for working families and the right choice for Beaver County.”
Beaver Falls Mayor George Quay said that “Erin McClelland not only recognizes the issues facing Beaver County, but is intelligent enough to know how to fix them.”
“I’ve seen firsthand the gridlock in Harrisburg, and I see the same issues coming out of Washington,” Rep. Gibbons said. “State governments are struggling, and our representatives in Congress have turned their backs on the people they’re supposed to represent here at home. We need more people like Erin McClelland, who understand that we need to come together and get things done.”
“Erin has shown an understanding of the 12th Congressional District and the issues that all residents feel passionate about,” agreed Rep. Matzie. “She will instantly be an asset as our representative voice in Washington.”
Last week, McClelland was endorsed by the United Steelworkers Local 1196, IBEW 29, and the Allegheny County Labor Council.
“I’m honored to have received the endorsement of true public servants like Commissioners Spanik and Amadio, Mayor Quay, and Representatives Gibbons and Matzie,” McClelland said. “They work hard every day for Beaver County residents, and I plan to bring that same passion to the United State Congress. I want to make sure that the people in Washington understand the issues we face in Beaver County and will work tirelessly to get government working for us. I know we can do better.”
McClelland also has the support of the following organizations, elected officials, and party leaders:
State Representative Erin Molchany (Allegheny), Lawrence County Commissioner Steve Craig, Westmoreland County Commissioner Ted Kopas, Ellwood City Mayor Anthony Court, Beaver County Register of Wills and Clerk of Orphans’ Courts Carol Fiorucci, Lawrence County Council members, Ralph Chippetta and John Todorich, Westmoreland County Democratic Chairman Dante Bertani, Westmoreland County Democratic Committee Executive Director Jesse Walker, the Women’s Campaign Fund, and IBEW Local 5.
