PPP: Kathleen Kane Ahead by 7

It’s still early, but it really is starting to look like Kathleen Kane will be the first Democrat to hold the Attorney General office since it became an elected position. PPP says she is beating Republican Dave Freed by 7 points, 41-34.

PPP also finds Tom Corbett would lose to a generic Democrat, 45-39 if the election were held today. Of course there’s a lot that can happen between now and 2014. Like Republican Governors who were bolstered by the Clinton economy in the 90’s, Corbett will probably be favored for reelection if the economy rebounds by 2014.

Still amazed by the Kane lead and surprised Dems are leading in all statewide races. If she wins, man, will she have a cornucopia of things to investigate related to Corbett and his minions.

Kane is now on record as planning to investigate Corbett’s handling of the Sandusky GJ during his time as Atty Genl. She might pick up a fair number of normally GOP-voting Penn State alumni with that stance.
